The Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA) recently announced that Case Paper is an award winner in the 2014 Graphics Excellence Awards (GEA) competition. The judging was concluded from a field of more than 1,000 entries, and the GEA competition is one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
Case Paper won the award for a promotional poster of aged Scotch Whiskey printed on Sonata Silver. The project’s special effects were designed by Color-Logic Design Suite using the Process Metallic Color System.
“Our Sonata line of specialty and metallic substrates are certified by Color-Logic ensuring printing integrity and consistency, “ commented Simon Schaffer, CMO at Case Paper. “It produces dramatic effects without the need for additional equipment and eliminates costly trial and error press runs.”
A panel of out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the entries. Each was judged on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.
“This is a significant achievement for Case Paper,” said Chuck Argianas, General Manager of Case Paper in Chicago. “It demonstrates our commitment to supporting our customers with superior substrates that print reliably and produce dramatic results.”
Since 1886, The Great Lakes Graphics Association has been dedicated to advancing the success of printing and graphics industry.
